Spider veins (and the slightly larger reticular veins) are small, web-like clusters of blood vessels visible just beneath the surface of the skin — most commonly on the legs. They are usually a cosmetic concern rather than a medical one, but they can affect your confidence and comfort. At your consultation we'll evaluate your veins to confirm sclerotherapy is the right approach for you.

Asclera® (polidocanol) is an FDA-approved sclerosing agent used in a procedure called sclerotherapy. A small amount of the solution is injected directly into the affected vein, where it irritates the lining of the blood vessel, causing it to collapse. The vein then gradually fades from view as your body naturally reabsorbs it.

Sclerotherapy is an in-office procedure that typically requires no downtime — most patients return to their normal daily activities shortly afterward. We recommend a short walk immediately following your session and wearing compression stockings for a few days to optimize results.

We use a fine-gauge needle to inject the solution, and most patients report only mild discomfort during the procedure.

Asclera® is contraindicated for patients with a known allergy to polidocanol and those with acute thromboembolic (blood-clotting) diseases. A thorough review of your medical history is a standard part of our pre-treatment process to confirm you are a suitable candidate.
